EXPERIMENTAL IMAGERY
I am a self-taught photographer/artist. I have been taking pictures since age 10 when I nabbed my Mom's polaroid and quickly shot a new pack of film on my version of art.......rocks, the clouds, bugs, the trees, our dog, but mostly shots of my feet or a toe. Of course it took two weeks of my allowance to replace the film, I received a good lecture on borrowing others belongings without asking and a firm reminder to not let it happen again. But soon after received a Brownie camera for my birthday because my Mother realized how much I had enjoyed it and how interested I was at such an early age. I remember the first time I figured out that I could scratch the film around the edges before the processing was through (being a kid and impatient to see the image) and when lifting the backing seeing it had manipulated the picture. You would have thought I had struck gold or something. Oddly enough, it seems I am still shooting most of the same images but in a more polished or extensive manner perhaps. The camera acts as a canvas and the computer my brushes and pallet of effects. A photograph only prompts my mind's eye to react and render what it feels from the image. I enjoy each second of the creative process and find it to be a obsession. I get lost in time when I am in the "zone" as I call it, hours may pass and seem like a few minutes. I am so glad to have found the world of photography and art, as it has been a true god send in my life at times. A simple photograph is always the first step in any of my Experimental Imagery. The SLR camera I have used for the past 19 years is a Canon EOS 650, I use 100-300, 70 and 25 mm lenses. My digital camera is a Sony Mavica, which I love. But I am steadily working towards upgrading my digital to a model I will be able to utilize my current SLR lenses with. I hope you enjoy the images and find they have a very visual appeal.
